Discover what your story is. Use it to find common ground and engage in conversations about faith with grace, confidence, authenticity.
About this project
What is Tell it Well?
If you’ve ever found it difficult to share your story or have been uncomfortable navigating conversations about faith, you’re not alone.
Tell it Well is a book I’ve been writing over the past year to address these concerns. It will take you on a journey to reflect on and articulate your unique story. You will be encouraged to identify the ways God is working in your life, then equipped to explain your faith in a meaningful, relevant way.
The book is both personal and devotional in nature, creating an open space for you to discover your story as you read. There are curated reflection questions at the end of each chapter to guide you to make personal, real-life connections with the content in the book.
Tell it Well is split into three sections, Discover Your Story, Own Your Story and Share Your Story. Each section walks you through a different portion of the process from identifying your story to sharing it with confidence and authenticity.
Discover Your Story focuses on uncovering what ‘your story’ means and why it is an important piece to understanding your value, purpose, relationship with God and ability to create open and honest conversations about faith and religion.
Own Your Story is full of practical steps, advice and examples of how to form your story. You will be challenged to look deeper and wider at your circumstances to find all the special ways God has created and called you.
Share Your Story is where we discuss how your story plays into the bigger picture of spiritual dialogue in our culture. We’ll dive into questions like; What does it mean to find common ground without wavering in your convictions? How can you start a conversation about faith that is based on common ground and understanding? And, How can we overcome negative stereotypes through our personal stories?
What is Kickstarter?
Kickstarter is a crowd funding platform that will allow me to publish Tell it Well with excellence through your support!
*But here’s the catch* I need to raise all $14,000 in 30 days, or I won’t get any of the money. (If the goal isn’t met, you will be refunded every dollar you pledge).
- If we surpass $14,000, I have some fun stretch goals we can unlock! The more money we raise, the more opportunities we will have to share the message in exciting, creative ways!

Why I’m Writing Tell it Well
I believe that valuing your story is powerful. I want to help as many people as possible know that their unique journey has a purpose. Your story can bring people together and inspire others.
God has given me such a passion for this message and I believe writing a book is the best way to spread the message. People read books differently than they read blogs, magazines or social media. There is a higher level of investment in a book. This means that when people read a book, they are more likely to internalize the message, which provides the opportunity to change the way they view themselves and the world.
I believe God will use Tell it Well to speak hope and truth into the hearts of readers. Knowing what your story is, and realize that it is immensely valuable, is all you need to present a faith in Christ that is vibrant, powerful and relevant. If you know your story, you are equipped to share Jesus in a meaningful way.

Why I Chose To Use Kickstarter
I’ve decided to do a Kickstarter because I believe in this project. I’ve gathered support from an incredible tribe who has offered their input, feedback and stories along the way to help shapeTell it Well. I’ve identified a felt need and the message God has given me is resonating with others.
I want to launch this book with excellence. I want people to find it, read it and share it. To do that, I need more resources than what I have available. That’s why I’ve chosen to do a Kickstarter. To rally together the resources of many who also believe in the mission and message of Tell it Well.
Let’s do this together. Together we can spread the message of hope to a hurting world.
I have some fun stretch goals we can unlock if we surpass the original goal. The more money we raise, the more opportunities we will have to share the message in exciting, creative ways!
- $25,000 = Audiobook version of Tell it Well!
- $40,000 = Turn Tell it Well into a curriculum so that anyone can lead and teach others to discover, own and share their story!
- What stretch goals would you like to see? Let me know!
My Plan to Accomplish This Project
The great news is; the writing is already done! Currently the book is ready to go through the final editing stage, which means you can bet your pretty dollar that this book is, in fact, going to be a real thing!
Writing Tell it Well has been a 12 month process so far. During this time, I have conducted surveys and interviews to better understand the needs/fears/desires of my audience. I have also gathered research on various topics such as religious trends and opinions among Millennials, story telling methodology and the psychological benefits of forming a story from your experiences. These sources, along with scriptural passages and examples have worked together to create the heart of Tell it Well. Personal stories and experiences others have shared with me are included to give context for the ideas shared in the book.
Once I reach my funding goal, I will be able to move forward with final edits, design, printing, warehousing and shipping! My goal is to launch Tell it Well by December 15, 2016!
Risks and challenges
As with any big project, there are a lot of moving pieces that need to come together to launch Tell it Well successfully.
I don’t foresee any risks with backing Tell it Well, only challenges. The publishing and launch schedule I have is quite aggressive. While I believe that my collaborators and I can meet the deadlines necessary to launch by December 15, 2016, there is always the possibility of unexpected delays or issues.
These challenges will mostly come down to registration processes, editing deadlines and printing and shipping lead times. However, as I mentioned above, the writing of Tell it Well is complete (except final edits), which means there WILL be a book. You can count on that!
I have gotten ahead of these challenges by creating a detailed schedule and launch plan and maintain frequent and consistent communication with my collaborators.
If you have additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
Thank you for your support,
